Student Coach Program

This season, we are launching a new Student Coach Program.

The program gives high school players an opportunity to gain leadership and coaching experience while mentoring younger players. Student Coaches will work alongside our coaching staff during practices and games with our younger Stars teams. This is a paid position with a minimum commitment of four hours per week.

The Glenview Stars are seeking enthusiastic junior and senior high school players to serve as Student Coaches. This paid position is ideal for individuals with a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and a passion for mentoring young athletes. Student Coaches will help be part of the coaching staff to develop the next generation of Glenview Stars players by fostering sportsmanship, teamwork, and respect while representing the organization with professionalism.

Student Coaches will work alongside Glenview Stars coaches throughout the hockey season, primarily supporting Coed Mite, Squirt, Peewee and Girls 10U and 12U teams during practices and games.

Season & Time Commitment

• Season: August 18, 2026 – February 28, 2027

• Compensation: $20 per practice and $30 per game

• Expected to work a minimum of 4 hours per week

• Schedule includes weeknight team practices and weekend games based on team assignments

Qualifications

• Junior or Senior in high school (2026-2027)

• Minimum of two (2) years of high school hockey experience

• Reliable transportation to practice and games

• Ability to commit to the full season

• Good academic standing

Practice Responsibilities

• Assist coaches during Coed Mite, Squirt, Peewee and Girls 10U and 12U team practice sessions

• Demonstrate hockey skills and drills

• Help organize practice stations and equipment

• Assist with transitions between drills to maximize ice efficiency Game Day Responsibilities

• Arrive at the rink prior to scheduled game time per coach’s instruction

• Assist with player warm-ups and pre-game preparation

• Help supervise players in the locker room before and after games

• Assist coaches with bench management during games

• Support coaches with post-game responsibilities as needed

Requirements

Prior to beginning employment, Student Coaches must:

• Successfully complete all required background checks

• Complete USA Hockey SafeSport Training

• Meet all USA Hockey and Glenview Stars coaching eligibility requirements
