The Glenview Stars Squirt 1 team fought hard and came home with the championship banner from the Great Lakes Tournament in Holland, Mich., this past weekend!

Friday night the team played the Muskegon Chiefs and pulled out a dominant 3-0 victory. Nick Koster was strong in the goal and Charlie Leadbetter, Jack Speers and Declan Darcy all found the net with one goal a piece.

Hitting the rink at 6 a.m. Chicago time, the Stars pulled out another victory on Saturday morning. The Stars held off a late 3rd period surge by the Soo Police Heat and showed true grit with a 4-3 victory. Great team play and goals by Charlie Leadbetter, Matthew Parma and Ben Thomas led to the win.

The early morning wake up call and having a few players under the weather proved to be too much for the Stars’ during their Saturday afternoon game versus the Orland Park Vikings. The Vikings controlled the game and defeated the Stars 2-0.

The early wins and top point totals moved the Stars into the championship game against the Orland Park Vikings whom the Stars had played in the previous game and lost. The Stars were fired up and determined to win the rematch. With outstanding protection of the goal by Nick Koster, unbelievable team defense led by Paul Prikos, Jack Leiser, Javi Ubarri and Ben Thomas and timely goals by Jack Speers and Dylan Stevens, the Squirt 1 team brought home the 1st place trophy with a 2-0 victory. Congratulations!
