Team Posts 4 Wins on Way to Championship Over MLK Weekend

The Glenview Stars Mite Silver team went undefeated and won the Dells Water Park Classic in Wisconsin over MLK weekend.

Game 1: The Stars defeated the top Evanston Wildkits Mite team 4-1. The Stars athletes came off the bench fired up and ready to play. Center Grant Loughran posted the first goal on the scoreboard in the first period as he charged down the ice with a breakaway that took the other team by surprise. Forward Alejandra Ubarri had the final goal of the game in the third period off a rebound.  Ubarri is a force to be reckoned with! The players were immediately ready for game two!

Game 2: Got Hockey? This team does! The Stars hit the ice and were ready for action when they defeated the Chicago Jets 8-0.  Goalie Dani Friedman earned her shutout in the net as the Jets were taking shots on her. Forward Joey Zheng skated hard and drove the first puck into the net for the Stars. The numbers just kept increasing as Winger Bradley Southwood scored two goals, and Forward Nick Poulos had a hat trick! Defensemen Jack Ahne, Beckett Doyle, Ryan Cowen and Nicholas Rudolph were not letting anything past them! They dominated and shut their opponents down right from the start.

Game 3: The Stars were off to a sluggish start at 7:40 a.m. when they ended the first period down 1-0. But in the second period, they started heating up fast! Once one goal was on the scoreboard for the Stars, they couldn't be stopped. Center Anthony Emme scored two goals in a row and Forward Ben Mann ended the second period with a top-shelf goal to put the Stars up 4-2. For the second game in a row, Right Winger Liam Finegan had the final goal in the game. Finegan was unstoppable as his goal ended the game with an astonishing 7-2 final score.

Game 4: GAME ON! It was bone-chilling cold outside, but these shooting Stars were on fire inside that rink! It was an exciting end to the tournament with 24 seconds left on the clock as Left Winger Caden Michael lifted the final puck into the net to end the tournament with a 4-1 win over the Evanston Wildkits for the second time! The Stars earned their well-deserved championship with four decisive wins.

Congratulations to all the players and Coaches Rob Messner, Jim Bohr and Mike Emme. The Stars are shining bright! They skate hard, they skate fast and pass the puck day and night! They fire accurate shots and defend their net, all with great intensity and passion. Go Stars!
