2012 Glenview Stars Alumni Game

On Sunday, Dec. 23, Glenview Stars Bantam Gold Coach Steve Funteas will host the annual Stars Alumni Game at 11:55 a.m. at the Glenview Ice Center. This year's matchup pits the Bantam 1 team against Stars alumni and coaches including Brian Farley, Terry Coyne, Paul Kokuzian and Tim Benz.

The alumni team will wear custom pink jerseys to show support for Coach Funteas' wife and others who are battling breast cancer.

According to Glenview Stars President Stephie Arkus, Coach Funteas' wife "is quite an inspiration by which she has so graciously fought this disease. Her sweet disposition and welcoming smile have never wavered through her struggle."

Arkus continued, "It is a testimony to the value of a coaches impact on his players when they want to stay in touch after so many years. I have always said that Steve should be proud of his impact on the lives of his players because he not only developed great hockey players, but great hockey coaches! He appreciates character and fosters leadership skills."

Come out on Sunday to watch the Stars Alumni Game then stay for the Glenview Ice Center Staff and Coaches vs. Glenview Police and Fire Departments charity hockey game at 4:45 p.m.
