Congratulations to the Glenview Stars PeeWee 2 team for winning the PeeWee A championship at the Great Lakes tournament in Holland, Mich.

The Stars went 2-1-0 in the round robin portion of the tournament, suffering a 2-1 loss to the Michigan Nationals on Friday night. The Stars bounced back the next day to beat the Chicago Bruins 7-5 and the Livingston Lighting 1-0. The 2-1-0 record gave the Stars a shot at the championship in a rematch against the Livingston Lightning.

In the championship game, the Stars took the lead first and never looked back. After the Stars scored a second goal to jump out to a 2-0 lead, the Lightning scored with two minutes left in the game, closing the gap to one. The Stars defensive efforts proved to be the difference by holding off a 6-on-5 Lightning attack for more than a minute to end the game, with the final score being Stars 2, Lightning 1.

At home, the Stars led NIHL league play with a division-leading record of 7-0-1 in the tiering round, earning them the right to play at the PeeWee Gold level for the regular season.

"We have a great group of hard-working, blue-collar players," commented Coach Chris Benz about the impressive start to the season. "If our kids continue to work hard and do the small things correctly, we will have a lot of success this season."

Good luck to the Stars PeeWee 2/Gold team for the rest of the season!
