Mission and Purpose

Glenview Stars

The Mission of the Glenview Stars Hockey Association, Inc. (GSHA) is to provide a venue for youth hockey players of all ages to play hockey at a competitive level and to assist such players in the development of their hockey skills as well as foster a growing appreciation for the game of hockey.

GSHA intends to provide an opportunity and positive atmosphere for all players to participate in the game of hockey. In addition, GSHA desires to promote self esteem, good character and strong work ethic, on and off the ice. GSHA will encourage sportsmanship and cultivate a healthy and productive hockey program.

We are members of and will conduct the organization in accordance with USA Hockey, the Amateur Hockey Association of Illinois (AHAI), the Central States Developmental Hockey League (CSDHL) and the Northern Illinois Hockey League (NIHL).

  • The Glenview Park District offers children the opportunity to learn hockey through the Glenview Grizzlies Youth Hockey League program. While it is a separate program ran by the Park District, most current and former Glenview Stars players got there start there before playing for the Stars.  The Park District also offers a learn-to-skate program for the beginner eager to learn to skate.

  • All players must be “committed” to their team.
  • All efforts must be made to attend every practice and game on time.

  • In cases of habitual or unexcused absences from practice or games, the coach will determine the appropriate measure of action.
  • Travel hockey is a competitive sport; equal ice time is not required and should not be expected by the player or parents.
  • A typical season will run from September through February.
  • There will be Parent/Team/Coach meetings throughout the season that all parents, players and coaches will be expected to attend.
