Team Raised Nearly $1,000 for Forward4Tobi Charity

The Glenview Stars Girls U12 team held a bake sale in support of breast cancer awareness

On Oct. 30, the Glenview Stars U12 team held their second annual bake sale to help those battling breast cancer awareness, with all proceeds going to local charity Forward4Tobi.

Forward4Tobi was established in memory of Tobi Klonecki, the late mother of Glenview hockey player Matthew Klonecki, and improves the lives of patients suffering from breast cancer by providing financial assistance for medical expenses, childcare, and other daily unmet needs so they may focus on fighting breast cancer.

The U12 girls and their families banded together in short order to put together a spectacular array of sweets and treats, displaying great enthusiasm and camaraderie by promoting the event in the lobby, in the stands at the Glenview Ice Center, and even on the surrounding streets. Coach Gina Guzzi donated her time and added pink hair extensions to anyone looking to further support the cause.

The girls raised $934 in support of Forward4Tobi and the Stars are extremely proud of their efforts. The game of hockey provides many ways for players to give back to the community and these efforts are something the Stars value immensely.

Thanks to Coach Rob Messner for organizing the event and thanks to the Glenview Ice Center for providing use of the facilities.
