You are invited to attend evaluations for our Mite "House Plus" (formerly known as Mite A-2) program. Please take a moment to read the information below.

What is the House Plus Program?

The House Plus program is a developmental program designed to assist the advanced house league player. Our teams will play teams from other programs in the area. Winnetka, Northbrook and Wilmette will also participate. Travel will be limited to within 15 minutes of Glenview. We try to minimize any conflicts with house league as best as we can. Each team will play an 8-9 game schedule beginning right after the school break in January and concluding in early March.

The purpose of the program is to:

  1. Give additional ice time/instruction/competition to participants.
  2. Allow players/parents to experience "travel" hockey on a limited basis to determine the interest level before making a full commitment to travel hockey.
  3. Develop hockey players.

How Are the Teams Selected?

There will be an evaluation session on Friday, December 3rd from 5:50-6:50 p.m. at the Glenview Ice Center. We anticipate forming two teams. Children participating in the Glenview Grizzlies House League born in 2002 or 2003 are eligible to participate. We cannot guarantee spots to all children due to team size restrictions.

How Frequently Will the Teams Skate?

House Plus teams will skate approximately once to twice per week beginning in December. Practice time will be primarily on weekends at the Glenview Ice Center and visiting team's rinks. Practices and games will be scheduled to minimize any conflicts with house league times.

What is the Fee?

The fee for the season is $325 (when registered by Dec. 1, 2010) which includes all ice time, referees, team jersey, socks and coaches salaries. Goaltenders are needed for all teams. Goalie equipment is available for use and goalies will play for no charge, however must submit a registration form. There is no fee for evaluations, but season payment is due in full prior to evaluations. Payments will be processed only after team selections are announced and your player is placed on a team; remember, space is limited.

Why the House Plus Program?

Many children and parents like to use this program to gauge their interest, child’s abilities, and the family's commitment to travel hockey. Many find that their child enjoys the greater commitment of travel hockey, while others determine house league is the best route for their family. The House Plus program helps to determine this. With additional practice and games with more experienced coaching children make tremendous advancements in their skills. The House Plus program helps prepare our youngsters for travel hockey if they so desire.

Who Do Our Teams Play?

We have created a group of similar programs located close to Glenview that we will play games against. These include Wilmette, Winnetka and Northbrook. This will keep travel to a minimum.

Practices are also an important part of the program. Practices will help skaters improve the skills needed for hockey: skating, stick handling, etc., in addition to team concepts.
