Girls Hockey Program Updates for 2016/17 Season
Conditioning Clinic and Tryout Schedule
As previously announced, it is not often that the phrase "life-changing announcement" lives up to that billing. However, the Glenview Stars believe this announcement will indeed be life-changing for a lot of parents in the organization.
The Glenview Stars announced a long-term partnership with the newly constructed Mount Prospect Ice Arena. Starting this fall, the Stars will have significant ice time in the Mount Prospect Ice Arena, which is conveniently located just four miles from our home at the Glenview Ice Center.
When it opens this September, the brand-new, $10 million, 71,000-square-foot facility will feature two NHL-size sheets of ice plus the following planned amenities:
The address is:
Mount Prospect Ice Arena
1501 Feehanville Drive
Mount Prospect, Illinois
http://www.mp-ice.com/
As part of the transition from Buffalo Grove to Mount Prospect, the organization was able to secure additional ice time for our kids. This will translate into more overall ice touches for teams at all levels as well as more full ice practice time in the form of rolling splits and full sheets.
We are currently working on schedules; we will publish the first two weeks upon announcement of the teams. We will publish the rest of the fall schedule as quickly as possible thereafter.
I hope that you are all enjoying the warm weather — summer is the perfect time to cross train. Baseball, soccer, lacrosse, swimming, golf, etc., will develop different muscles and make you a complete athlete and that is very important. That said, summer is also a great season to work on your individual skills: your skating, stickhandling, passing and shooting can improve tremendously during the off season when you don't have any pressure to compete. I hope to see all of you at the rink soon.
As a reminder, all Glenview Stars players need to comply with the Stars’ uniform policy. This policy requires players to wear the official Glenview Stars jersey and socks, plain navy pants and white helmets.
If your player makes a team, he or she will be given ample time to purchase the appropriate uniform. Plain navy shells to cover different color/design hockey pants are available at most hockey shops and online. Prices range from about $20-$60 depending upon style, size and quality.
As most of you know, the Mites left USA Hockey three years ago to allow more full-ice games and joined together with AAU Hockey. For more information on the mite program, please visit www.glenviewgenerals.org.

The Glenview Stars Girls Hockey Program is committed to building young athletes while providing a superior quality hockey experience. For the 2016-17 season, we will field teams at the U10, U12, U14 and U16/U19 levels.
Because of our commitment to advancing our female hockey players, we anticipate that our tryouts this fall will be both highly competitive and well attended.
Our U10 team will play in the NIHL Girls U10 division. This a key stage of development for young hockey players as they start to understand how to read and react better to the game at hand. At this level, girls are allowed to double roster on a youth (co-ed) team.
Our U12 team is a full time team this year and will play in the NIHL PeeWee youth (co-ed) division. Our U12 coaches will work to develop each player’s overall skills while training the team to compete at a high level of play.
Our U14 team is again a full time team this year and will play in the NIHL Girls U16/U19 division. This competitive team will be pushed to prepare players for high school hockey and beyond.
For anyone interested in being part of a tradition of hockey excellence, please see the Girls Team Info area on the Glenview Stars website.

Tryouts for Glenview Stars regular season Squirt, PeeWee and Bantam teams begin tonight for the Stars top Central States teams and tryouts for our NIHL travel hockey teams begin Wednesday, Sept. 7. See below for important changes that affect tryout schedules for all teams.
Based on input from Hockey Director Sylvain Turcotte, Director of Player Development Tim Benz and with consideration for factors such as anticipated player numbers, skill level, and most importantly player safety, we are restructuring the slate of teams that will be offered at the Bantam and Squirt levels this year.
At the Bantam level we will field a Bantam Major (2002) Central States Development Hockey League (CSDHL) team and two Northern Illinois Hockey League (NIHL) teams consisting of a combination of 2002 & 2003 players.
Bantam Major CSDHL (Turcotte, Lebda)
Bantam NIHL 1 (Kokuzian, Benz)
Bantam NIHL 2 (Janis)
At the Squirt level we will field a Squirt Major (2006) CSDHL team and three NIHL teams consisting of a combination of 2006 & 2007 players.
Squirt Major CSDHL (Philbin, DiMaggio, Sormaz)
Squirt NIHL 1 (Stevens)
Squirt NIHL 2 (Harris, Harris)
Squirt NIHL 3 (Weides, Turcotte)
Based on these changes, we are MODIFYING ALL TRYOUT SCHEDULES. Note that changes do not affect tryouts for today, Sept. 1, but affect most tryouts after today.
We believe these changes will ensure our players are developed to their fullest extent and will make certain that our teams are competitive at all levels.
If you have any questions, please contact Glenview Stars Hockey Director Sylvain Turcotte by email at hockeydirector@glenviewstars.org or by phone at (224) 521-2043.

Four PeeWee Teams: 2004 NIHL, 2005 CSDHL and two mixed NIHL travel teams

The Glenview Stars are proud to have some of our top teams participate in the Central State Development Hockey League (CSDHL). This year, the Stars will field teams at the 2002, 2005 and 2006 birth-year levels. Our top 2003 and 2004 teams will play in the highly-competitive Northern Illinois Hockey League (NIHL).
The Mission of the Glenview Stars Hockey Association, Inc. (GSHA) is to provide a venue for youth hockey players of all ages to play hockey at a competitive level and to assist such players in the development of their hockey skills as well as foster a growing appreciation for the game of hockey.
GSHA intends to provide an opportunity and positive atmosphere for all players to participate in the game of hockey. In addition, GSHA desires to promote self-esteem, good character and strong work ethic, on and off the ice. GSHA will encourage sportsmanship and cultivate a healthy and productive hockey program.
We are members of and will conduct the organization in accordance with USA Hockey, the Amateur Hockey Association of Illinois (AHAI), the Central States Developmental Hockey League (CSDHL) and the Northern Illinois Hockey League (NIHL). The program is committed to being competitive and improving over time. Our goal is to give the players the best opportunity to succeed.
