The Glenview Stars proudly announce that Mike DeGeorge has joined the Stars organization as goalie instructor. Mike has extensive experience between the pipes, both as a player and a coach.

Mike played for the Glenview Stars on the Bantam AA team during the mid-'90s, anchoring the team's run to the USA Hockey Tier II National Championships. The team captured first place in Regional, State, Northern Illinois Hockey League (NIHL) and Silver Sticks tournaments. Mike also received the NIHL Scholar Award.

Mike later played AAA hockey with the Chicago Young Americans, where, as Alternate Captain, he helped lead his team to several first place finishes in state and international tournaments. He was selected to attend the USA Hockey Dave Peterson Camp at the USA Hockey Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs and the USA Hockey Player Development Camp hosted by Ferris State University.

During his high school years, Mike played Midget Major hockey for the Chicago Chill AAA program, where he netted a GAA of 2.0 on his way to capturing first place in State and second place in Regionals. He then moved to the Chicago Freeze of the NAHL.

In college, Mike was the starting goaltender at the University of Illinois where he played for four years, including winning the 2005 ACHA National Championship. Mike was named MVP at the ACHA National Championship tournament and was a four-time All-American.

His coaching experience includes six years as an instructor at the Midwest Goalie School, four years with the Ran Goalie Clinics for Champaign hockey clubs and recent stints as goalie coach for the Lake County Atoms and Libertyville Ice Cats.

Mike began working with Stars goalies during the 2010 spring season and will host goalie programs over the summer. Check the Glenview Stars website later this summer for details.
