It's going to be relatively quiet around the Glenview Ice Center this weekend as eight Stars teams hit the road to play in out-of-state tournaments.

The Stars Mite 1, Mite 2, Mite 3, Squirt 2 and Squirt 3 teams are playing in the Motown Cup tournament in Detroit. Several games will be played at the Joe Louis Arena and the Stars will watch the Chicago Blackhawks take on the Detroit Red Wings on Sunday at "The Joe."

The Stars Squirt 1 team heads north to the Wisconsin Dells for hockey -- and waterpark -- action.

In Ann Arbor, Mich., the PeeWee 2 team plays in the Big Chill tournament. Facing teams from throughout North America, the tournament should be a good challenge for the PeeWees.

Our Bantam 1 team travels to Cleveland to play in the Rock 'N Roll Cup where they will take on teams from Virginia, Pennsylvania and Ohio.

There's local action this weekend, too, as the Stars PeeWee 1 team plays the Irish and the PeeWee 3 team meets the Chicago Jets. Both games are on Sunday at the Glenview Ice Center.

In A2 action, the A2 Minors have back-to-back games vs. the Leafs and the Cyclones at the Glenview Ice Center on Saturday and Sunday. The A2 Major Red team plays the Falcons in Buffalo Grove on Saturday, followed by a matchup between the U8 Girls and the Yellow Jackets afterward. On Sunday, the A2 Major Blue team battles the Northbrook Bluehawks at the Glenview Ice Center.

Good luck to all Stars teams, and for those on the road, safe travels.
