Glenview Stars Alum Pays it Forward as a Coach

The Glenview Stars Hockey Association is proud to announce that Rob Messner, who played travel hockey for the Stars as a youth, will coach the Mite 2 team for the 2009-2010 season.

Rob grew up playing hockey in Illinois. During his time with the Stars as a player, he played on several NIHL championship teams. He also played two summers with the AAA-level Illinois Selects, traveling to Montreal, Calgary and Toronto playing against Canada's finest youth teams.

Rob played varsity hockey at Loyola Academy and was drafted by the Toledo Cherokees of the North American Junior Hockey League. He played varsity club hockey at both the University of Colorado and Marqutte University.

For the past three seasons Rob has been a coach at the Evanston Youth Hockey Association. He has coached Mites, Squirts and PeeWees.

As a youth, Rob played for some notable coaches, including Wally Kormylo and Wally Neumenko, and believes he brings a little bit of every one of his past coaches to his current coaching style. He is currently a Level 3 certified coach.
