2015-2016 Glenview Stars Girls Continue Our Tradition of Hockey Excellence

Stars Girls Wrap up a Successful 2015-16 Season

For the 2015-2016 season, the Stars Girls Program fielded teams at the U10, U12, and U14 levels. The Stars Girls teams continue to have success on and off the ice: together we brought home five banners and three trophies to the Glenview Ice Center; our teams worked together with the MsConducts Hockey teams to raise over $4,000 for Puck Cancer; and the girls came up with creative ways to raise almost a $1,000 (split between A Silver Lining Foundation and Forward 4 Tobi) during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The Stars Girls Program fulfilled its goal to provide unique opportunities for all of our players to build community, mentoring and leadership among our female athletes.

The U14 Star's found themselves in a rebuilding mode this year. After promoting a large group of players to U16 and Tier I programs, the Star's U14s used this season to build a group of first year U14 and U12 players into a strong core for the spring and 2016 season. This team continues to add talent with the goal of competing with the best teams the U14 level has to offer, especially the powerful East Coast and Michigan clubs. The players were more than willing to put in the extra time and effort necessary to improve their skills and their game. As this group continues to develop and grow the outlook looks very promising for seasons to come.

U14 Accomplishments:

2015-2016 U14 NIHL Tier 2 – First Place

The U12 Stars were a very young team, with only 2 second year players. But that did not stop the coaches from expecting big things from this talented group of girls. This group persevered and came together as a team as the season progressed having a whole lot of fun along the way. In the end, this amazing group over achieved, exceeding the coaches’ expectations. The Coaches could not have been more proud of these young ladies and the growth they attained both individually and as a team.

U12 Accomplishments:

2015 All American Girl Tournament – Blaine, MN – Champions

2016 Robinson Girls Hockey Tournament – Green Bay, WI – Runner-up

2015-16 NIHL Wolves Cup Runner-up

2015-16 AHAI Blackhawks Cup Illinois State Championship Runner-Up

The U10 Stars were a team of young, high energy girls who worked well together on the ice, and also enjoyed spending time with one another off the ice. They played great team hockey which resulted in a very successful season, finishing with only 1 loss. This team built a strong foundation for Stars’ Girls hockey moving forward and we are excited to see this group progress.
