Tournaments

Most Glenview Stars teams participate in 2-3 tournaments per season. Tournaments are located throughout the Midwest, including Michigan, Wisconsin and Indiana, as well as the Chicago region. Occasionally, some teams travel to premier tournaments located on the East Coast or Canada.

Tournaments are proposed by the team's head coach and team manager and then voted on by team parents.

International Tournaments

Lions Cup: Glenview Stars go to Sweden

Several Glenview Stars players have been asked to participate in an international tournament, the Lion's Cup, held in Sweden. Bob Krolak, of the Krolak cup, has asked our very own Sylvain Turcotte to coach this team of 97's. The Chicago Select, their chosen team name, is thrilled and feel that this is a chance of a lifetime for the whole family.

The Lion's Cup has been an annual event between the United States and Sweden for 31 years!! Permanant friendships are commonly made between these young boys from across the world. Their love of hockey, family and country bring two very different cultures to a common place.

This year there will be teams from Russia and Finland, as well as many from Sweden. All of the American hockey players will be hosted by Swedish hockey player's families for the week while the American families will stay at a near-by historical hotel. Besides all the incredible hockey, the families will have time to take in many of the great sites in and around Stockholm. The Chicago Select will attend a Swedish school for a day to shadow his 11 year old host.

The Glenview Stars are honored to be a part of this educational, once-in-a-lifetime experience. The Stars participating in Lions Cup are: Danny Arkus, Evan Chang, Matthew Garcia, Luke Howland, Michael Kavanagh, Patrick Myers and David Wendel.

Brampton Tournament

The U8 and U10 Stars Girls Teams are participating in the 42nd Annual Brampton Canadettes Easter Weekend Tournament being held 4/10-4/12 in Brampton, Ontario, which is billed as the largest female hockey tournament in the world. Last year over 400 teams participated in the tournament, including teams from Canada, the United States, England, Japan, Russia, Kazakhstan, and other European nations.

Krolak Cup

The Glenview Stars, the Northbrook Hockey League and the Spirit of Chicago Foundation (founded by Bob Krolak) are thrilled to host the 9th annual Krolak Cup Tournament. The tournament will be held April 12 - 19, 2009. Glenview and Northbrook invited two hockey teams and their families from Huddinge, Sweden to the US to participate in this event. Northbrook and Glenview hockey families will welcome Huddinge players who are 14 years old into their homes for the week while Swedish family members spend the week at an area hotel. The week truly fosters great cultural exchanges, lifetime friendships, and not to forget some fantastic hockey. Many activities are planned for the week to help make our Swedish guests feel welcome. We invite all of you to participate by attending the games. More details about game dates and times will be posted on the Stars’website.
