To all Stars families,

Now that tryouts are over, let the season and the real fun begin. Regardless of his/her level, I am confident that your player will have a positive experience this season. Our coaching staff is attentive, experienced, and excited for the upcoming season.

Tryouts, like always, were a very stressful time again for most, but the process itself went quite well. Like some of you, I was a bit skeptical about the “closed” tryout concept, but I have to admit that having attended all of them, it was the right thing to do. All the kids put their best effort out, the competition was fierce, yet at the same time, the kids were encouraging each other and stayed very positive throughout the process.

From a team selection standpoint, I also implemented a new process this year that was well received. All Mite and Squirt coaches evaluated and ranked all Mite and Squirt players, so that when we sat down for the selection process, we had an extensive evaluation of each player on which to base our selections. The PeeWee and Bantam coaches went through the same process.  Although we will still have the occasional heartache (it is part of the process), we can all move forward, confident and excited about our teams.

Look for our homecoming announcement in the next few weeks and WELCOME TO ALL TO THE 2010-2011 GLENVIEW STARS HOCKEY SEASON!!!!!
