NIHL A2 Major Champtionship Game -- Stars Blue vs Stars Red

It was an all Glenview Stars A2 NIHL Championship Game! On Saturday March 8 our two Glenview Stars' A2 Major teams (Red - coached by Rich Callaghan and Neal Pagano and Blue - coached by Mike Weiss and Mark Dieker) battled it out at Allstate Arena in the NIHL Championship Game.

For the second year in a row, Coaches Mike Weiss and Mark Dieker brought home the NIHL Championship Banner. In a hard fought game that came down to the wire, the Blue team scored with 43 seconds left in regulation to win 3-2.

We are happy to report that the Red team didn't let the loss get them down as they roared back on Sunday to defeat Winnetka Gold 5-0 to take first place in the Winnetka Cup Tournament. Look for the new banners and the trophy at GIC. Go A2s.

It was a great effort by both teams and we congratulate all the players on having a tremendous season.

Mite Bronze takes Winnetka Cup

Congratulations to the Mite Bronze team on their first place finish in
the Winnetka Cup earlier this month. The team went 3-0 in the round
robin with victories over Wilmette, Evanston and Winnetka, and beat
Winnetka 4-2 in the championship game. It was a complete team effort
with contributions from all the kids and a great ending to a memorable
season for Mite Bronze.

2007-2008 Season Was a Great One

the end of the 2007-2008 hockey season is upon us.  Our teams enjoyed success during the NIHL season and in tournaments and the Mite Gold and the U10 Girls teams brought home Championship flags.  Our A2 Major teams are doing very well and are looking forward to starting the playoffs.   The Stars have started new traditions, including Super Game Days and the Skate a Thon.  We are looking forward to a terrific spring program, where skill development will be emphasized and games will be played for fun.

A2

Congratulations to our A2 Major Red and Major Blue teams on making the NIHL playoffs.  Games start this week.

Mite Gold

Congratulations to the Glenview Stars Mite Gold team on their second place finish in the NIHL tournament.  After losing the first game of the NIHL round robin to Northbrook 2-1, the Stars rallied to beat their archrival the Express and the heavily favored first place Hawks.  They played the Vikings in the Championship game and although they lost the game, they proudly brought home a NIHL second place flag that will hang from the rafters of the Glenview Ice Center for years to come!

Girls U10

Congratulations to the Glenview Stars very first girls team on their third place finish in the Blackhawk Cup.  The U10 girls were just one victory away from the Championship game when they lost to their archrival, Evanston, 4-2.  They came back the next day to beat the Huskies 3-2 and brought home a third place flag.  We are looking forward to seeing the girls compete again next year.

Bantam Silver

*And, congratulations to the Bantam Silver team on their tournament championship in the Indianapolis President's Day Cup Tournament.  The team went 4-0-1, with three come from behind victories.  The most exciting was against the Columbus Blue Jackets.  Down 4-2 with 2 minutes left the Stars rallied to score 3 goals in 58 seconds.   The championship was a real team effort. 11 players scored and Michael Bisioulis and Garrison Sanipass had hat tricks.  Goalies Cam Irwin and Zev Grumet-Morris were named tournament MVP's. Check out this week's Glenview Announcements for details on the victory.
